The Industry Standard
MetaTrader, developed by MetaQuotes, is the most widely used retail trading platform. Most brokers offer MT4, MT5 or both.
MetaTrader 4 (MT4)
Released in 2005, MT4 remains hugely popular for forex. It is lightweight, reliable and supports automated trading through Expert Advisors.
MetaTrader 5 (MT5)
MT5 is the newer, more powerful version. It adds more timeframes, more order types, an economic calendar and access to additional asset classes such as stocks and futures.
Which Should You Choose?
